Aaron Whitmer, 16, of Beavercreek, has been diagnosed with brain cancer, but a trip in January to visit celebrity Food Network Personality Paula Deen, granted a wish of his to come face to face with the positive message of one of his idols.

Aaron’s mother Donna Whitmer said A Special Wish Foundation granted Aaron’s wish to meet Paula Deen in January, when the foundation flew the family to Savannah, Ga., where Aaron met with Deen, ate at her restaurant and took a tour of the city.

Where the parents thought they might get 15 minutes with the telvision personality, they were invited to Paula’s home where they spent six hours. The next day they had food at the Deen restaurant and where given a tour of the city. Aaron continues to get treatment and the family continue to receive emails from Paula who asks how he’s doing.
