You might recall that the very first post on this site (other than the little hello thing) was about Paula Deen and her plans for this year. In that we mentioned a restaurant and cookware. Guess what? We have an update on the cookware.

From the Chicago Tribune:

Every year, the International Home & Housewares Show showcases thousands of new products for the kitchen. Sponsored by the International Housewares Association, this year’s event, held in March at Chicago’s McCormick Place, attracted thousands of buyers looking for the next big thing.

The article talks about various trends and several things that caught thier eye. For us, the biggie being Ms. Paula’s new Fall line:

Paula Deen swirled cast-iron pans will start at $30. — Meyer

Meyer Corp. unveiled the Paula Deen Signature Collection of cookware, tools and cutlery that is almost as expansive as Deen’s Southern drawl. Favorite items included the swirled cast-iron pans (from $30 for a 10-inch skillet); the pretty yet sturdy speckled enamel-on-steel mixing bowls ($20 for set of three) and an old-fashioned 8-cup percolator ($25). The 85-plus-piece collection will appear in September.

Also of note in the article … Yellow is the big kitchen color this year. And, other trends include “multitasking tools geared for smaller and/or more value-conscious households; and an industry-wide push toward environmentally friendly design”.
