It's time for another big Martha Stewart cooking week block! Remember as The Martha Stewart Show is syndicated, the channel and times vary by location. (You can find your time and channel at the handy Martha finder here, btw.) And if you miss one and forgot to TIVO it, each show is repeated the successive evening on the Fine Living channel at 8pm Eastern. I've been working on this article for a week or so now. Funny thing, it started out as talking about two cities, Philadelphia in the US and Vancouver in Canada. Why? Because to me both are excellent food cities and yet both have not gotten the respect they deserve from the culinary world. So while different, they have much in common; additionally, I didn't think I'd have enough to write on each city by themselves (again, why is that? From being ignored or underplayed in the food press.)

So many good food and wine articles out there waiting to be discovered. One recent delight was Pascale LeDraoulec's article in Forbes called Ten Perfect Food & Wine Pairings. In it he talks to such culinary luminaries as Eric Ripert, Tom Colicchio, David Kinch, Nobu Fakuda, Michelle Bernstein, and Josh Emett among others about those perfect pairings.
"Food and wine pairing has finally hit the tipping point, in that it is now expected at fine-dining restaurants, and increasingly at any self-respecting restaurant," says Karen Page, author (with Andrew Dornenburg) of "What To Drink with What You Eat".
