Aaron McCargo Jr., Aida Mollenkamp, Ask Aida, Big Daddy's House, Ingrid Hoffmann, Iron Chef America, Masaharu Morimoto, TV Food Shows
01 Aug 2008 Busy time on the Food Network this weekend with the premiere episodes of not one but two new cooking shows; plus new episodes from both newer shows and old favorites. First on Saturday is the premiere episode of Ask Aida with "cooking expert Aida Mollenkamp prepares delicious dishes while solving Food Network viewers' culinary conundrums in her new interactive cooking show" according to the Network release. The great thing about Aida is she's been doing web videos at Chow.com for three years now. So we know she's good in front of the camera and knowledgable. What impresses me most at this ... {More...}

18 Jul 2008 Here's the video preview of what's happening on this week's episode of The Next Food Network Star on Sunday night at 10pm. The remaining three finalists shoot scripted promos at iconic Las Vegas locations. Then they meet Season Two winner Guy Fieri and are told to each create a lavish buffet for the ultimate Vegas crowd – entertainers from famous Vegas shows and top Vegas chefs. Also new and worthy on Sunday night is a new Iron Chef America where Bobby Flay takes on Gabrielle Hamilton of NYC's Prune. I first saw Hamilton on television during an episode of ... {More...}

07 Jun 2008 Many weekends are slow, food news-wise. This is definitely not one of those. On the air we have a preview of Paula Deen's new cooking show on Sunday early afternoon and later that night episode 2 of NFNS. Off the air and live, the biggest thing of this weekend and perhaps of the year is the Annual James Beard Awards Sunday night. First up is Tyler Florence who travelled to Boise for a food charity event, A Chefs' Affaire. What it is involves a five-course gourmet dinner created by Idaho chefs from 20 different restaurants. Foodies Have a Gastronomic Blast at First-Annual Pebble Beach F&WF

Celebrity Chefs, Food Festivals, Iron Chef America, Jacques Pepin, Masaharu Morimoto, News, Thomas Keller, Tom Colicchio, Top Chef
31 Mar 2008 So the first-ever Pebble Beach Food and Wine Festival finally happened and ended last night. It was definitely a rousing success. Let me quickly mention my irritation at what ever San Francisco Chronicle copy room hack came up with the misleading headline of: For $4,750, foodies eat up the chance to see famous chefs in person Compare the headline to the very last sentence in the article: "Per-person cost for the four-day Pebble Beach Food & Wine extravaganza ranges from $100 for a single class or seminar to $4,750 for lodging and admission to all events." In short, ... {More...}

NBC Seeks Wannabe Restaurateurs for Future ‘Last Restaurant’ Show

Hell's Kitchen, Iron Chef America, Last Restaurant Standing, Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares, Rocco Dispirito, TV Food Shows, Throwdown with Bobby Flay
21 Mar 2008 Why do so many other people come up with much better food reality programs that the Food Network? Is it they're so close to the subject matter they can't see the forest from the trees? Or in this case the parsley leaves from the bushel? Aside from Bobby Flay's Throwdown and Dinner: Impossible, yeah FN does fine with it's dump-and-stir programming, but reality? Eh. Let's face it FN to this day whines -- and I mean whines a non-stop pathetic blue streak -- that Bravo stole Top Chef from their Next Food Network Star. But ... {More...}
