It's grilling season and the king of the grills Bobby Flay is everywhere. A new cookbook just out, a new cooking show to follow and finally, his own cookware line, with, natch, a nice feature of grilling attachments. Food Network and Kohl’s Corporation officially launched the Bobby Flay casual lifestyle collection last Thursday.

Why do so many other people come up with much better food reality programs that the Food Network? Is it they're so close to the subject matter they can't see the forest from the trees? Or in this case the parsley leaves from the bushel? Aside from Bobby Flay's Throwdown and Dinner: Impossible, yeah FN does fine with it's dump-and-stir programming, but reality? Eh.
Let's face it FN to this day whines -- and I mean whines a non-stop pathetic blue streak -- that Bravo stole Top Chef from their Next Food Network Star. But ... {More...}

The tension was as thick as the pork in the buns. Would the Food Network be able to film "Throwdown!" before the sun set and totally screwed up the camera work? Oh, and who would win: nationally known chef Bobby Flay or local barbecue phenomenon Lee Ann Whippen? Stay tuned.
Who won? No idea. When will the show air? Unsure, but as I'm getting better at figuring this stuff out, I'd say late Spring or Summer.
